Queen Camilla Returns to Royal Duties Amid King Charles’s Cancer Diagnosis

After having a few weeks off, Queen Camilla has made her official return to royal duties on April 16. The Queen Consort went to an engagement at Buckingham Palace, marking her first royal event since attending Easter church service last month on March 31.

Camilla was present with members from the SafeLives charity organization, a “UK-wide charity dedicated to ending domestic abuse” that “recognises children and young people as victims in their own right.” The charity focuses on youth from ages 13 to 17.

The Changemakers Pioneers Discussion was held at the Palace, and saw Camilla speaking with prominent members from SafeLives, including program lead Sally Steadman-South, Chief Executive Ellen Miller, young persons authentic voice coordinator Kristie Waller, Chair of Trustees Isabel Boyer and four women who act as Changemakers at the organization.

Camilla’s latest outing comes amid King Charles’ cancer diagnosis earlier this year and their 19th wedding anniversary — People reported that the couple took a romantic getaway to Birkhall, their favorite Scottish hideaway, for the occasion. The trip broke one of their royal traditions, as they have typically gone to the royal family’s Balmoral Castle and its accompanying estate in past years.

After having a few weeks off, Queen Camilla has made her official return to royal duties on April 16. The Queen Consort went to an engagement at Buckingham Palace, marking her first royal event since attending Easter church service last month on March 31.

Camilla isn’t the only member of the royal family headed back to work. Prince William is slated to make his returnt o royal duties following Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis on April 18 with a visit to Supper, “a food redistribution charity, where he will see how food surplus food from the area is delivered, sorted and repackaged for delivery to small community organizations.” William’s engagements that day will also include a trip to a youth center in West London that receives food from Supper, in order to learn about the charity’s impact on the youth.
